Alisha Shabazz 2024-2025D

Name: Alisha Shabazz

Hometown: Richmond, VA

Major: Social Work

Why NC State: I chose to attend NC State school partly because I wanted to experience living outside of my hometown, but also because I heard great things about the social work program. My ultimate passion is working with children, and I have recently started volunteering for the Wake County court system to advocate for children going through their proceedings.

Career Aspirations: My goal post-graduation is to establish my career in child services. I someday want to own group homes, but until then, I would like to work in foster care or child protective services. This scholarship impacts me in knowing that people believe in my goals and want to support me through them. I am making plans to also attend graduate school to further my knowledge in the field and hone my skills.

Chelsea Wilkinson-Roberts 24-25

Name: Chelsea Wilkinson-Roberts

Hometown: Clayton, NC

Major: Psychology

Why NC State: I am a senior psychology major at NC State. My favorite aspects are the opportunities it provides for me to enrich my knowledge and further my career goals. I chose to attend NC State because I felt it would allow me to feel the most comfortable, yet still challenge me to get out my comfort zone. So far, it has done exactly that.

Career Aspirations: My post-graduation plans are to return to school to attain my master’s and then my doctorate. In doing this, I hope to become a practicing psychologist at a mental health clinic. This scholarship is impacting these goals by allowing me to further my education which will allow me to attend graduate school.

Ethan Bekhet 24-25

Name: Ethan Bekhet

Hometown: Butner, NC

Major: Computer Engineering

Why NC State: I have always had a large interest in computers and computer software. As a student wanting to study computer engineering, I felt that NC State was the most obvious choice due to its well renowned school of engineering. My favorite aspect of NC State would have to be the lounges such as the Multicultural Student Affairs lounge in Talley or the Women and Minority in Engineering Program lounge in Lampe. I find most of the people that look like me and study the same things as me in those places.

Career Aspirations: After graduating, I intend to find a full-time position within the computer engineering or computer science fields. My dream company to work for is Apple as I have always been fascinated by any device they come out with. This scholarship alleviates the pressure of paying for my schooling and is one less thing I have to worry about in the long run.

Louis Meadows 24-25

Name: Louis Meadows

Hometown: Oxford, NC

Major: Business Administration and Finance

Why NC State: I’m currently a senior here at NC State. My decision to come here was mainly centered around their business program, financial aid and convenient distance from home. I also chose to join the Wolfpack because NC State believes in me, has invested in my success and has given me the resources to succeed.

Career Aspirations: My main goal post-grad is to be a full-time employee in the finance field, preferably a local job in Raleigh or remote. This scholarship impacts these goals heavily as any amount of aid helps relieve some of my financial stress. This not only contributes to my financial well-being but also my mental well-being.
